Cooling Off in Cleveland This Summer
Northeast Ohio has so many great natural resources to take advantage of during the Summer when it comes to staying cool.
Whiskey Island/Wendy Park is a great place to visit offering not only the beach and beautiful Lake Erie, but water activities as well. You can stay cool and have fun all in one! There is boating, paddleboard sports, fishing, picnic tables, volleyball and so much more! The best way to get to Whiskey Island is from Edgewater Park. Whiskey Island Road originates at the east end of Edgewater Park, just north of the Shoreway. The road will take you past the industrial areas of the island before dead-ending into Wendy Park where all the fun is located. The beach is beautiful and has views of Cleveland. Nelson Ledges Quarry Park is another great Summer cool off spot. The quarry offers swimming, but you can also choose to snorkel, cliff dive, and even scuba dive. The park does offer a small fee for beach access, but this is a spot you don’t want to miss. It is located on a 250-acre forest with a campground. Another great location to visit locally is Squaw Rock in the South Chagrin Reservation. This is a great location to relax within nature and take a dip in the swimming hole. There are also several hiking trails to get some exercise and then take a dip afterwards!
